An easy island to travel around, holiday makers visiting Kos will find several transport options available. An increasing number of tourists choose to rent a car, particularly those flying into Ippokratis Airport.
Other prefer to travel to the beaches, resorts and attractions around Kos by using the island's fairly comprehensive, zoned network of buses. For something a little more leisurely, ferry transport is on hand at the port in Kos Town, waiting to whisk you off to a neighbouring island for the day.

Kos Island Airport is a large and busy facility, situated approximately 26 km / 16 miles from Kos Town, which lies to the north-east. The airport currently serves some 30 different airlines, which fly to many top European destinations, such as

Car Rental
There are plenty of rental outlets based on Kos, where you are able to hire all kinds of road transport, such as cars, motorcycles, mopeds, scooters and also bicycles. The roads around the island allow you to travel to most most resorts and beaches with relative ease. You can usually expect to encounter some gorgeous coastal views from the cliff tops, as you drive to your chosen destination.
Buses and Coaches
The Kos Town bus station is located ext to the Olympic Airlines office, on the Kleopatras. Bus transport serves the entire island and is a very affordable way to travel to all of the beaches on the southern side of the island. Urban buses operate a very simple pricing structure, with just two actual ticket prices, relating to the either of the island's Zone A or Zone B. Bus tickets can be purchase from an automatic vending machine, sited on the harbourfront, next to the office of Blue Star Ferries.
Boats and Ferries
For Kos Town itself, many ferries arrive and depart throughout the day from the Atki Koundourioti, particularly during the summer holidays. Ferries transport passengers to islands such as Kalymnos, Platy, Pserimos and Nisyros.
Further regular ferry excursions travel to both Kardamena and Mastihari.
