The Island and Its Restaurants
I have been visiting this beautiful Island for sixteen years and my partner for three years. The climate in the summer months is very good the hottest months being July and August but the heat is not oppressive. The island has so much to offer from beautiful beaches, wonderful mountain ranges, views of the islands in the sea surrounding Kos with the opportunity to visit these by boat. For those who enjoy history the island abounds with Roman ruins and the ancient history of Greece, being the birthplace of Hippocrates. There are so many places to visit it is worth hiring a car, the island is not large and it is easy to find your way around, make sure to go to Zia and Pyli both up in the hills on the West side of the island. Visit Kardamena on the East side with its views of Nisyros the volcanic island, you can take a boat trip from Kardamena to there well worth it. There are many excellent restaurants in Kardamena our favourites being the Posidonia and the Pelagos both with fantastic views. For those who wish to shop Kos town is a must and again with a wide range of excellent restaurants and cafes. The Greek people are friendly and helpful and will extend the visitors a very warm welcome. We can highly recommend a visit to the Island of Kos and like us you will return again and again.

Distant but worth the effort
I would have been more than happy with a beach holiday, but I felt it was a bit of a waste to venture to Greece for a fortnight yet not check out some of its history. I know that some might be put off by the 200 mile trek, but the journey to Asklepion, an ancient hospital, is worth both the time and money that needs to be spent. Give it a try!

Watching the world go by
We'd had a bit of a heavy night early on in our Kos holiday and wanted somewhere to take it easy the day after. Regardless of how you feel, I recommend time spent in Eleftherias Square just watching the world go by. There are countless cafes and restaurants for you to find a spot outside of.

Re. So exotic
I didn't think the beach was anything special to be honest, but the taverna at Agios Theologos is definitely something to be enjoyed. If we're talking about beaches though, I definitely preferred Cavo Paradiso.

So exotic
Xerokambos was exactly the kind of beach I imagined Kos would have when we booked our holiday. It is 20 miles away from the main town centre in the Kefalos area but that shouldn't be a problem if you have your own transport, or there is a regular shuttle bus to and from the beach provided by your hotel.

An insight into old Kos
We travelled just 11 miles from our accommodation in order to enjoy Kardamena and its Folklore Museum. Inside the museum, older generations take you down memory lane and reminisce about how they and their great grandparents lived many years ago.
