Kos Restaurants and Kos Dining
(Kos, Dodecanese, Greece, GR)

Kos Restaurants and Dining: Image of outdoor cafe tables and chairsYou can't holiday on the island of Kos without trying a little of the native fare. Plenty of quality Greek-style restaurants and authentic tavernas are spread all over Kos and offer a dining experience to savour.

Many restaurants and eateries are concentrated in the main tourist resorts and near to the most popular beaches, such as Lambi Beach and Marmari Limnaria Beach, serving very flavoursome dishes, with an unmistakable Mediterranean style, often quite similar to Italian cuisine.

Kos Restaurants and Dining: Photo of al fresco tableOlive oil always plays a major part on the menus at the various dining venues around Kos, with the most popular dishes including moussaka (lamb and aubergines), pastitsio (baked pasta dish), souvlaki (grilled meat on a skewer) and tsatsiki (meze appetiser made with yoghurt).

Kos Restaurants and Dining: Where to Eat - Kos, Greece, GR
Around Kos Town, the main restaurants line the central waterfront and harbour, and whilst their location is enviable, they tend to be rather pricey and do not offer anything like good value for money. Instead, those looking for a good dining experience without stretching the purse strings would be advised to take a walk around the back streets, where some less 'touristy' restaurants reside.

Kos Restaurants and Dining: Cafe picture taken at the Kipriotis VillageWithin Kos Town itself, recommended restaurants include the Barbas on the Evripilou, the Olympiada on the Kleopatras, and the and H20 on the Vasileos Georgiou, which is actually part of the Kos Aktis Hotel complex. Just a very short walk directly to the south of the town centre is the authentic taverna of Ambavris, where quality food is both tasty and simple.

Alternatively, outside of the town, further eateries are to be found within the resort of Mastihari, Kefalos Bay, and the mountain villages, such as Pyli, Zia and Zipari.
